Space Turtle(s) 101
Below are the eggs for the month of August; they should hatch just a few days after this message has been posted... what evil lurks in the hearts of these eggies? While the shadow probably knows, we'll all find out in a few days time anyways.
I am mostly posting this today, because my favorite - albeit rather silly at times - series of games has made a reference to the world being carried on the back of three elephants and a giant turtle... which is strangely reminiscent of one Terry Pratchett's discword series. I kind of doubt they've been translated into japanese, though, so I'm going to assume what the fellow was saying in the actual game was something incredibly coloquial, which only made sense to the japanese, so they changed it to something which would only be caught as a reference by westerners... or something. My other explanation is that (if discworld hasn't been translated into Kanji, or one of the makers of the game was not a discworld fan - which, given the games contents, would not really surprise me...) like Firefly and Cowboy Bebop apparently have eerie similarities, the reference is purely coincidental. Both are hailed, on their side of the world, as being entirely unique... even if Cowboy Bebop DID come first, both were arrived at seperately. Although, I do have a hard time believing that two separate people decided that the world should be carried about by elephants and turtles, so expanation #? is that Terry Dear and the unknown video game contributer BOTH got the same idea from a singular source, which is likely older than the two of them put together. This being a rather silly blog AND rant, I am going to assume that this source is located somewhere in india (I guess, because they've got both turtles AND elephants...); having done a search on wikipedea, I'm mildly creeped out at being correct. There's a giant turtle called Akupara who totes about the world in hinduism. Apparently, Mr. Stephen King makes a reference to said giant turtle as well, and that very likely did get translated into Japanese; So where did the elephants come from?
I reserched further. There are elephants too. So; it isn't a Terry Pratchett reference, it's a reference to Hinduism. Ah well... it made me happy for the day, and that's all that matters. Also, I've learned about "turtle problems", which will make me infinitely happy when bored... a reward all on its own. *Smirk*
Plus, you know... Turtle stacking.
Well... Here's some eggs: Show me a turtle, baby!
